Fundamental Threat

Dear Republican Party,

There is a fundamental threat to the future of the Republican Party. The threat is found in the growing disregard for individual responsibility among my generation. My friends are being taught that individual responsibility is not important. They are being offered attractive short term solutions without fully understanding and calculating the long term cost. My generation is slowly being lured to believe that the government will provide for everyone's needs. They are believing shallow promises. They are adopting principles that diminish individual responsibility. They must be taught otherwise.

The first of Republican principles declares, "I believe the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored."

You must teach us this principle. Articulate it. Explain why it is important. My generation must understand the importance of individual responsibility. If you don't teach us, we will turn to the alternative which promises to provide.

Individual Responsibility

Dear Republican Party,

Before any serious discussion begins or actions are taken we must agree on who’s responsible. The future of the Republican Party does not rest on one generation and not the other. We must work together. For the brightest today and tomorrow we need everyone. However, change ultimately begins with us, with individuals.

Our failure or success as a party hinges on whether or not we will take individual responsibility for our collective cause.

Individually our impact is limited. Together it is limitless. We must decide to take responsibility for the future, first as individuals and then as a party. Like America, the Republican Party does not consist of one exclusive group. No, we are a party with many different faces, different ages and different backgrounds. We are brought together under the umbrella of the Republican Party. As individuals we have decided that the Republican Party most closely represents what we value and believe. The cause of the Republican Party is what unites us. People make decisions, cause change and write history. You make decisions. You cause change. You write history.

When we take active responsibility for influencing the sphere around us personally, we will be more effective as a party. After all, aren’t we the party that historically champions individual responsibility?

Discuss. Act. Solve. Now.

Dear Republican Party,

Who are you? What are your principles? Why should we join?

Who is the Republican Party? What are the Republican Party principles? Why should my generation join the Republican Party?

Who am I?

I am a young Republican. I am a student, advocate, and leader. I represent the future of the Republican Party, the future of America.

It’s time for discussion. Discussion that leads to action. Action that leads to solution.

My generation and me need your help. You must teach, explain and exemplify what it means to be a Republican. My generation demands you tell us why, before we join.

Today the discussion is opened. Together we will contemplate causes, effects, ideas, actions and solutions.

The need is real. My generation doesn’t understand. Our questions must be answered. We demand reason. Teach us, talk to us. Don’t equivocate. Time is slipping away. We seek to belong. Waiting is not an option. We are yours to lose.

For Our Cause and Country,

A Young Republican
